| | A new student came into the district this year who had been placed in sped | at the end of last year.  He was placed as SLD with an 82 full scale IQ and | achievement standard scores (WJR) ranging from 77 to 102.  I have taught | sped for 6 years and have been under the impression a student qualifies for | SLD if there is a significant discrepancy between the ability and | achievement.  Somehow I don't see 5 points being a significant discrepancy. | Are there other criteria for placing SLD students I don't know about? | | Remove all space cats to email.
