A new student came into the district this year who had been placed in sped at the end of last year. He was placed as SLD with an 82 full scale IQ and achievement standard scores (WJR) ranging from 77 to 102. I have taught sped for 6 years and have been under the impression a student qualifies for SLD if there is a significant discrepancy between the ability and achievement. Somehow I don't see 5 points being a significant discrepancy. Are there other criteria for placing SLD students I don't know about? Remove all space cats to email. Remove all space cats to email.
