why do we forget RCMP Taser 82 year old man

The police have been conditioned that the only tool they have is the taser. When you think the only tool you have is a hammer, you begin to think the world is a nail. How have they been brainwashed like that? The police are trained in Use of Force and in accordance with the Use of Force Continuum. They are supposed to respond with the level of force appropriate to the threat they are facing. The only brainwashing they may have had would be about the safety of the taser. Bear in mind that police are subject to prosecution for excessive use of force, and I think any cop who uses a taser inappropriately should be prosecuted. That being said, and in few of the Use of Force Continuum, neither the Vancouver airport incident or old Mr. Lasser are in violation on that. you are over-ruled by the very man who first allowed the taser to be used by law enforcement in Canada- the former Attorney General of BC, Ujjal Dosanjh. He testified for the Briarwood Inquiry that the testimony given by Smith is unacceptable , in that Smith is challenging the experts to prove thet the taser is harmful when the purpose of the inquiry is to have the company prove that the taser in fact ISNT. Further, Dosanjh said that at the time that he approved of their use, he was misinformed both of their risks (the taser was supposedly over-researched to attest their safety), and in the manner in which the taser would be used. Speaking SPECIFICALLY on the cases of the 82 year old man, the use of tasers on fare evaders and on Dziekansky, he stated that their use in such cases is unacceptable. This man was once BC's top cop, and is now a Liberal Cabinet Minister on Public Safety.

On the news tonight there was a report of 3 RCMP police officers who Tasered an 82 year old man as he lied in his hospital bed. He recently had heart surgery and was hooked up to oxygen. Any RCMP officer who could not one-handed disarm a 82-year old man on oxygen does not deserve to keep his badge.

Sure if you say so Dave, as your taking a lot of flack right now in face of the public's attacks on the police..... Nope. I just consider the source, a bunch of cop hating goofs who don't have a clue, mental midgets like yourself.

Never the less, he is a typical politician, playing partisan games to appeal to his electorate and blaming current problems on the party in power.

I would not defend them if they acted criminally. I think police officers should be held to a higher standard because they are supposed to know the law and should be setting a good example. But you do! Nope. Only those where they were used in accordance with training and policies.
