I have been a K.C. _base_ball fan since 1958, when I spent quite a lot of time at the ball park watching the K.C. A's .  They drew well through 1966, when Charlie O took the team and Harvey rabbit to the west coast.  The new K.C. team, the Royals, have done well until the p_layer_s strike, which  was the straw that broke the camels back. The fans began staying away in droves.  What you must understand is that the Royals were more a regional ball team than they were a Kansas City team.  During every game, the parking lot was full of buses that came in from out state Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas.  That fan support vaporized since the strike.  Hard Core K.C. fans can not alone support a Major League franchise.  What has also hurt the ball club has been the bumbling management _style_, or should I say no _style_.  Since the departure of Scherholtz (bad spelling), K.C., lost its crystal ball.  Another thing that hurts the Royals is apparent here in Omaha, a mere 2 and 1/2 hour drive from the stadium.  In a metro area of 750,000 people, the local paper does not run stories on the K.C Royals despite Omaha being a AAA Association town supporting the Omaha Royals.  What is most damaging, their is no radio broadcast of Royals games, in this the biggest out- state market in the AREA!!!!!!   I trust that when either George Brett or Hunt buys the club, there will be an infusion of both money and _base_ball finese, sadly two elements that are in short supply with the current owners. In closing, the biggest pain the Royals have gone through in the 80's was the loss of the biggest Royal fan and supporter, Ewing Kaufmann, may his soul rest in peace. It's not just the Royals. Virtually every MLB team has the same problem. The arrogance in MLB is incredible!
