My old vtec hi-lites are done, my traditional office shoes are killing me, and need to replace both with someone comfortable for perhaps 3 miles walking per day. As I say, if they can be used in work as well, i.e. brown or black leather, that would allow me to walk during breaktimes as well. Tried a search, but doesn't seem to be a huge amount of info out there - Many thanks folks....

Specialist walking shoes are differentiated from normal shoes with things like a cleat and stud outsole for grip on muddy hillsides and increased wtaer resistance to keep out rain and puddles, and they aren't particularly more relevant to 3 miles urban walking than any other shoe. I'd be inclined to head down to the local high street and try on a selection and see what's comfortable, including both normal shoes (i.e., Clarks etc.) and walking shoes which you'll fine in the likes of Blacks.  In a shop like Clarks you'll probbaly find a degree of overlap.  Get the ones you feel most comfortable in. If your weight is causing discomfort from greater impact forces then something with more cushioning would help, for which you'd be looking at running shoes, but these will wear out a *lot* quicker.
