I caught him trying to sleep on his stomach again this morning and asked him to please not to do that. He wasn't happy about it,but he did quit. I know it's his body, but I have to cope with seeing him wince when it acts up. Sharon who asks...Is the hokie pokie really what it's all about?

I haven't been able to sleep on my stomach for *years* - maybe since my mid- 30's?? Hurts my lower back; is just too uncomfortable. Gee, I stopped sleeping on my stomach about 12 years ago and just recently started again because my hip REALLY hurts when I am on my side. Have you tried sleeping with a pillow between your knees? I have two extra king pillows that I use primarily as body-supports while sleeping, and it's made a huge difference in waking hip pain (I sleep on a water bed, so face-down is pretty much out of the question...)

I had been telling my husband that sleeping on his stomach could be contributing to his back if not hip problems. He wouldn't listen to me..said it didn't matter. I finally decided to give up. When his back really started bothering him,I noticed that he quit sleeping on his stomach. Whether coincidence or not, since he quit doing that, his back and hip problems have eased considerably. The hip problem had cleared up to a large degree after taking glucosamine, but I think now with the new sleeping regimen,it's even better. Has anyone else noticed a connection between spinal/hip problems and sleeping position? Sharon who asks...Is the hokie pokie really what it's all about?

What's interesting is that before he quit sleeping on his stomach,he was taking three glucosamine a day, saying if he only missed one,he would have a flareup. Since then,he's dropped back to one a day (bothered his digestion,as they did mine) and is doing very well indeed. Go figure. Sharon who asks...Is the hokie pokie really what it's all about?

Hmmmm. Maybe I need a BIGGER pillow and not a smaller one. I'll try that tonight. Jean B.
