Unfortunately, you got caught up in this mess.  I'm sorry it's happening to you, but you are not tenured and there isn't much you can do.  You can be very highly rated, but it won't do you much good when they cut back on jobs.  You need seniority to keep the job you're in.  They are not picking on you, it's the general climate.  If you can hang in, you'll be working full time in a year or two because this won't last.

I am well liked by all my colleagues and department chairs and have received praise and thank you letters from parents and students. I was a team p_layer_, arrived to school on time, was never late to any of my classes, and never missed a single day despite coming down with five nasty colds. We have teachers here who ar exactly as you just described and teachers who are the total opposite. I read your story and I offer my sympathies which is worth exactly nothing. Your Union Rep is correct. In the case of a temporary contract or a first year contract, you have no recourse. This is one of the reasons why I _object_ so strongly to having incompetent administrators sitting in judgment on professionals. Any of the explanations you mentioned for the principal's behavior might be correct, or there may be possibilities you've never considered

Many of those who run our schools care nothing for the students and the families. They care only about exercising their tiny power and collecting their very generous incomes. The solution is for good teachers to stop teaching and to start administrating. No thanks. I'm so sorry. And I'm sick all over again. Damn! You sound like some parents.
