I'm a university student putting together an educational musical program to tour through the summer that teaches about Canada through music, and I am looking for songs that fill any of these criteria: 1 - tells some history of Canada (history goes right up until yesterday) 2 - discusses some Canadian topic of interest 3 - refers to some historical figure (i.e. person, place, event) 4 - mentions Canada or any place therein 5 - is written by some brilliant Canadian artist 6 - anything else you think might help me Any _style_ of music is fine

How 'bout FAR TOO CANADIAN by Spirit of the West Pretty mcuh any song by The Tragically Hip makes Canadian references.... David Milgaard case, the CBC, Hockey play Bill Barilko,....I could go on but on all four albums you'll find a bevy of Canadiana...

: I'm a university student putting together an educational musical program to : tour through the summer that teaches about Canada through music, and I am : looking for songs that fill any of these criteria: I don't know if this'll do but Spirit of the West have an old song out called Profiteers (on the Labour Day album) which deals with the way the 'landlords' in Vancouver really jacked up their prices, thereby throwing a lot of low income people on the streets, so that they could rent their apartments (etc) to the masses of tourists who came to Vancouver during the 1984 (?) Olympiads... Then again...there's lots of other Spirit of the West songs that would probably fit your criterion...Darkhouse is another one that comes to mind...or Take it from the source... Michel
