http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7491948/ Yup. It's true. My mom almost died from hyponatremia doing her first Ironman in '87. It's a very serious condition that can sneak up on you. I find electrolyte replacement drinks or caps on super-long or hot rides help me a lot. Most of the time I just bring some salty snacks like some baked chips or jerky. I think some people are also more prone to get it, and we've found my mom, my brother, and I are all pretty susceptable. Due to the kinda stupid amounts of water I go through riding in Arizona, I keep a small plastic tub of salt at my desk, and dip my (moistened) finger into it probably 10-12 times a day, and use extra salt on most of my food. I'm not sure, but I think it's helped with a persistent headached I used to get riding in the summer. Mark Hickey Habanero Cycles
