My point is that there is no such thing as natural or God-given rights when it comes to intellectual property. Such rights are purely a matter of legislation, which can change. Legislation also relies on enforcement, which is ineffective in this situation.

Society does not view non-tangables to be property.It goes agaist common sense. It goes against thousands of years of definition of what is property,and now a limited few people want to change the definition of property and extend it to non tangables soley for profit because they have outpaced,stripped,over harvested, industrial material tangables,and they have maxed out their profitability as far as they can be stretched,but still it is not enough for them. The information age definitely views intellectual property as something of great value. In fact, in his book Powershift, Toffler says that information has replaced capital as the primary _base_ of power. So control of information is going to be a huge part of the new society. Of course, being able to steal information (in this case, digital data) is itself the result of power (information).
