name of a baby eagle Uzi Eagle--worth more than a Baby Eagle?
|
|

I was wondering if anyone out there knew if the Uzi Eagle was bringing a premium since they were no longer being made under the Uzi name. I own one, and was under the impression that Uzi introduced this pistol shortly before they were bought out by Magnum Research. Magnum Research now sells the exact same pistol under the name of Baby Eagle. Does the Uzi name bring a premium on this pistol?

Magnum Research started importing IMI Jerricho's and called them Baby Eagles. Magnum Research then started making the Baby's in the USA. Magnum Research then sold the rights to Uzi so they could focus more on their BIG pistols. Uzi slaps a bunch of white letters on the slide and calls it an Uzi Eagle. Then Magnum Research decides that they screwed up and buy the rights back from Uzi. Which brings the Baby Eagle back onto the scene. There you have it a brief history. I don't think the Uzi name will bring squat...but as long as Uzi didn't fiddle with the original design at all, it is an excellent weapon. I just wish they would have left those damn white letters off of the slide. OK group If I left out any companies that had a hand in this gun please correct me.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know how many of these guns were made under the Uzi name, or for how long this was done? I'm certain that Uzi didn't make any changes to the design since I've looked at several of them at gun shows and they are identical. I knew there was something to do with the liscensing, and I'm thinking that these guns were sold under the Uzi name for a very short period of time. I have never seen any of these guns under the Uzi name sold on Auctionarms.com, and have only seen two at gun shows with the Uzi name on it. I was just wondering if the rarity meant any appreciation in value. I love the gun. It shoots very true, and has a great feel to it. I actually went to the gun shop to buy the Glock 23, and they had gotten in several of the Uzi auto pistols by mistake. After looking it over, and considering that it already had night sights, and was over $100 less, I decided to take a chance on it. I'm very happy with it, and I use it as my carry weapon except for the summer months when I carry my Sig P230 stuffed in a pocket of my shorts. Rasputin <

I imagine I'd like this pistol much more if only two features were changed. 1. Move the manual safety from the slide (Gods!) to the _frame_ (where all good pistol safeties belong IMHO). 2. For God's sake, lose the Baby Eagle name and bring back Jericho! Damn that irks me! Does this pistol have the double-action/cocked-and-locked option as per the CZ 75, or is it a double-action with a manual safety? It would seem a bit silly to put a manual safety on a double-action, ESPECIALLY if said safety is located on the freakin' SLIDE. Why not a decocker? Jeebus!
