prijon reviews Any reviews of Prijon Boxer?
Any one out there having any comments on a Prijon Boxer?  I'm thinking about getting a new boat and this is one of the few choices I have. I have a Tornado and a Samurai currently.  The Samurai performs like a strict squirt boat rather than the play boat it is because of my weight(315lbs).  In addition,  I have to paddle Prijons because I rip the seats out and build minicell seats(out of necessity to fit in them) in all of my boats.  Prijons are the only boats with strong enough plastic for me to take the seats out of. I've been paddling the Tornado for 3 years and wouldn't mind a slightly shorter river cruiser like the Boxer.  I paddle mostly III/IV stuff.  Thanks in advance for any reviews. Jason

Any one out there having any comments on a Prijon Boxer?  I'm thinking about getting a new boat and this is one of the few choices I have. I've paddled one most of this summer and really like it. Like you, I was paddling a Tornado and was looking for something a little quicker for creeking and playing around. Good point are that the boat is very agile, turns quickly and eddies well. It's a lot wetter than a Tornado, but your bow is about 2' closer to you. The stern is flatter than the Tornado, but if you paddle a Samurai, you probably wont notice. It has enough volume up front to keep it from diving at the bottom of a drop. And the flat bottom makes the intitial stability good. Down side. The cockpit isn't a comfortable as the Tornado. My 28 Thighs are a tight fit in this boat. If your tall, you might have some problem with foot room, most of the volume is fairly close to the cockpit and the bow get narrow quick. It plays OK, but just OK. It performs very well on Big Water(Gauley and New size stuff) and seems to be a good creeker, but that season hasn't made it here yet. I'm happy with the boat and don't plan on trading for awhile. SYOTR Larry C.

If you like the Prijon boats and especially the Tornado I think you will like the Boxer.  It should fit nicely between the Sam and the Tornado, though 315 will be at it's upper limit.  =O. Steve Scherrer

tight fit in this boat. Yeh, the Boxer has the same cockpit _style_ as the Samurai.  I don't know why Prijon decided to use that awful hard plastic coaming and deceptively restrictive cockpit _style_ when their other boats were so comfy. I've had to remove that cockpit ring and re-seal my Samurai with 100% clear silicon 2X because of leakage problems.  Although, since I resealed the second time its been dry as a bone. Thanks to everyone for your input!  Jason

i have a boxer (along with a hurricane, rockit, t-canyon and six boats from other manufacturers).  i bought it to use as a big-water boat and for large-volume creeks and i am well satisfied.  despite being negligibly longer, it is faster and holds a line better than my rockit.  i didn't buy it for play
