In doing research for a first time 3-day cruise on the Carnival Cruise Line Holiday ship from Los Angeles I was considering taking my wife on for our 20th anniversary, I came across the following Center for Disease Control Sanitary Inspection Report scores for the Holiday cruise ship.  Scores of 85 or less are considered unsatisfactory.  Most ships had scores in the 90s. DATE      SCORE 01/09/98  87 06/23/97  86 02/21/97  87 09/30/96  87 03/18/96  87 Reference: http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/programs/sanit/vsp/vsp.htm I would like to hear from other people who have been on the Holiday recently to get their opinion on whether or not this ship is in ship shape.  I know that inspections scores alone might not tell the whole story.  This same website shows that on 7/18/94, right before a Shigellosis outbreak, the Viking Serenade received a relatively high score of 92.  I had been thinking that the heavily discounted fares were just the result of lack of demand in the off-season.  Perhaps there is another reason.  The satisfaction of a cheap fare would sure be ruined if we got sick.

The Holiday was in Dry Dock for the last 2 weeks and not sure what was going to be during Dry Docking. I wouldn't worry about the scores as the line can lose a few marks for just having a freezer door open while they are trying to replenish the freezer. I am also sure if they came to inspect most of our houses out there it is likely very few of us would pass. Phil
