Sushi-Boys A Weight Loss Motivation Post I am now convinst that there are many posters out there who do not ask questions For what ever reason. This post is for those of you who were told by a doctor to lose weight or have a friend or loved one who is trying to lose weight. Recently I received a few complements from people who I have not seen since I was dx'd About January 27.  It has fueled my motivation even more. Here are just a few 1 - Wow you look like a different person not just because of the weight you loss But also in how you act and the color of you skin (keep in mind my skin color turned green before I was dx'd 2-     A guy in a store said to me.   I remember you wow you look great 3 - A girl in my building called me up and told me I'm stuck in the shower and forgot my towel in the bedroom can you help me ok ok im just kidding about this one for now J There was a few more but just your general complements. If you would like to be told these things.  I hope this motivated you even just a little bit. For those of you who have a friend or loved one trying to lose weight.  Tell them how good they look and if or when they reach their goad weight KEEP ON TELLING THEM.

For those of you who have a friend or loved one trying to lose weight.  Tell them how good they look and if or when they reach their goad weight KEEP ON TELLING THEM. sensible enough advice. It does work too. I know someone who just lost 90 pounds. Everyone was telling him how great he looked, and he said it helps motivate him to keep it off. He's my consultant diabetologist. Ratty

Tell you what Buddy, in 94 I was quite a bit over weight. I knew it but just didn't pay attention. Then one day I realised that there were certain things that I couldn't do because of it. The simple things that do not register untill you try and cannot. For example - squatting [with yer ass on yer heels] and staying so for a while before slowly and gently rising. Or when sitting in a chair, bending forwards to tie my shoe lace. I used to be able to sit cross legged for ages in comfort, then I couldn't. i was depressed by it and it was that which got me started. But you know how it is - although you are loosing weight it does not show right away and its all too easy to feel a bit usleless. Right when I was flagging in my resolve a pal who I had confided in showed me something I never forgot. We were in the supermarket - he walked to the section which had all the bags of sugar. I was told to pick up 5 x 1kg bags [2lbs] and hold them in my cradled arms. I did and then followed him to the end of the row where there was a mirror. I looked in the mirror at myself and he said, there you are - that is what you are carrying in excess. That is what it looks like. I returned home feeling very miserable. I then got a bag of sugar and deliberately measured out two tea spoon measures till a bag was empty. I then vowed that i would not take sugar in any drink from that day forward untill that figure had been reached. By that time I was off it for good. It took a visual clue as to what I was trying to achieve and it worked. When I lost the weight, it was great. Do you know I actually ran up stairs for fun, I'd sit cross legged for fun and sit in an easy chair with a leg folded under my ass because I could. So Sushi me lad.......just just you think back to a time when there was something that you used to do and cannot do now. Soon you will be able to do it again and the difference is that it is what will please you not others. That is the important thing - to please your self. By doing that you will be happier and that in itself will radiate, you will feel more confident and at peace with your self and others will see that and be envious of you. You see....you have everything to gain and those who are not in your position can only loose what the have. Remember the old saying? when you are deep in the shit there is only one way to go - up! You can do it easily. Pete Pete - Diagnosed 20/03/03 Type II D&E + Gliclazide

It reminds me of when I was going to Weight Watchers years ago. The instructor came in one day with 10 pounds of fat. Yep, fat...beef fat wrapped in plastic. It was horrible white yicky stuff. She made each one of us hold this 10 pound bundle and image how much the weight we needed to lose felt like. So, if you needed to lose 20 pounds your bundle would weight twice as much, 30 pounds three times as much. It was really an eye opener for some of us. I know when holding the bundle I could imagine the extra weight on the bones in my body and my heart. Very scary. Dana

You can do it easily. What a wonderful story, Pete. Thanks for sharing it. Hey listen pal......my granny [god rest her soul] used to tell me things as I sat by her bedside. She was dying of Leukemia and I was a mere 11/12 yrs old. most of what she said to me on these occasions I managed to remember. Not all but most and of those I remembered I found them all to have been accurate and true. One of the things she said to me was supposed to have been told to her by someone a long time ago [inbetween the wars] it went like this: when a person does a favour for you, by deed or other, then you as a gentleman are obliged to do unto others threefold, the same and they likewise. If we all behave towards each other like this then paradise will be ours . I am now 52 and it has taken me all this time to see the logic of the saying that I remember. Have you ever heard the phrase that it is better to give than receive? I suspect that you have indeed, you seem to be the type of person that has. Well you know how it feels when you do something for someone and it works out ok? Great feeling. I am pleased that you appreciated my little tale. Cheers Pete So Ass is more polite than Arse.
