I'm getting ready to take some marketing advice from the nice Middle- Eastern businessman down the street, the one with the new Rolls Royce. He sells carpets. He's running a Going Out of Business sale...has been for what seems like the last five years...parking lot's full, everybody is leaving with a carpet in the trunk or on the roof. Is there any legal definition for exactly how long it can take to actually go out of business ? I doubt it. So I am now officially announcing my Going Out of Practice Sale. While I last, crowns are now $1500. a piece, hurry, prophys $275.00, bitewings not included, and consultations are free, unless you expect me to say something...at which point consonants are $5.00 each, vowels $7.50. Won't last long...depending on your definition of long ...Call now reserve your seat in the waiting room, or a place on line outside in the hallway. Most customers can't read anyway and its legal. If you are going out of business, people tell me that they make so much money that they have to stay in business. Cheers, Joel

Yes, there is a legal limit to how long.  I think it is state-specific.  If I remember (and I may be wrong here!), in California, you have a maximum of 12 weeks for a Going Out OF Business or Closing sale.  Going Out FOR Business has no limits (other than ethics... but these are rug salesmen, right?  LOL) Best regards, LadyAndy2 in Los Angeles, CA (remove nospam to reply)

When business is slow, the clerks run through the store and dump everything from the shelves on the floor. People walking by look inside, see all of the mess, and they assume there is a big sale going on! Cheers, Joel
