tivo tivo on Comcast/Moto dvr: no movie credits, slow recording setup
I just had my Comcast/Motorola dvr switched to run tivo software and although I like it overall, a couple of things are bothering me. Never having used a real tivo, I don't know whether or not these issues are specific to Comcast: 1. Movie listings have no credits at all. The credits must be available since the WishList search engine can find matches on that basis. But I don't see any when I ask for info. I get plot summary, duration, year of production, rating, and several other thing, but no director or actors or anything else of that sort. Is there any way I can get credits to be displayed? 2. Scheduling a recording is _very_ slow. Once I get through specifying the recording settings, the Please Wait view appears for at least 2-3 minutes. In one case, the first one I did and the only Season Pass I've set up so far, I was in Please Wait for almost 10 minutes. Is this normal?

Something like a Season Pass can take a bit longer than just a single recording, both will check for conflicts with previosly scheduled recordings, but I've never seen mine take longer than about 20-30 seconds, and most are much quicker. The info button should have a long and a short setting that it cycles between. However, I think your problem is that the long setting is not showing enough information, and I don't know of a solution for that. Essentially, the long setting is about 3-4 lines of info and only includes the major actors (sometimes/at best).

Most Tivos will background the task after a couple of seconds and put up a notice that the To Do list will be updated soon. It sounds like yours is doing it as a foreground task, so that may not be an unusual amount of time. Perhaps this is something that will be changed in a future update of your software.

The long form is what shows ratings etc. There are no credits. If I should be seeing some I'll complain to Comcast.

Pressing info should bring up a listing of (on my TiVo anyway): _title_; Episode _title_; De_script_ion; Part Index (i.e. part 2 of 3); Content Rating; Rating; Actors; Directors; ExecProducers; Writers; Categories; Color Mode; Original Air Date; and Disk Usage. This doesn't work while simply browsing channels, though, only while looking at the de_script_ion in the Now Playing list or searching by _title_, etc. Hmm. I don't see anything called Now Playing . I just did a _title_ search and the information displayed is the same as I get with the 'info' button on entries in the Guide: pretty much everything you list _except_ credits (actors, directors, writers, producers) and Disk Usage. Speaking of Disk Usage, I can't find any screen that will show me what percentage of the disk is in use. Should that be available somewhere? In general sounds like I'm not getting the real tivo experience here... I would buy a tivo-hd box and get cable cards from comcast except that I do occasionally use Comcast's on-demand service, which is not accessible that way.
