Our car had the film put on by a car window tinter 3 years ago.  All windows have it except the windshield .  The film looks almost colorless before it is put on.  This is our second car that we have had treated.  We also have the film on all of the windows of our house.  So far the house film has lasted 11 years and still doing the job.  We live in California and had some trouble getting it installed in the windows by the front seats.  We carry a pre_script_ion from our rheumy  for the film in the glove box but so far in the last 11 years we have never been stopped.  By the way it also helps the car from getting too hot.   Ruth

Me again, Great going Ruth,  I went and ordered me some stick on rub on vinyl film for my car.  Only bad thing it stunk to high heaven.  None of us could stand it.   I even set it out side for 3 days and tried it again but it was awful so I sent the stuff back. Maybe I will have to look into this and get something done on the car but for right now I use my roll down shade. janers

Andy I thought of that but even though it is static cling type of window film, the sucker would blow off for sure. I went and looked at another brand of film and same thing, the smell is awful   So hubby and I decided to go with the roll down ones as well as a towel over my legs.  But what the hey, we don't travel too too much and lately not at all due to MIL being ill. So I will continue to look and figure something out.  I do know that when I drive the hands itch sometimes but I continue to use the sun block total and that surely helps, so would gloves but I have not found a nice light wt kind. Any suggestions.. janers

Janers - check out Sun Protective Clothing - they're a Canadian company - they have hand covers that are very comfortable.  last joint of fingers is exposed (distal) but other than that they're very cool and work quite well (I kept getting little blistering rashes on my hands when driving on sunny days).  I've grown so accustomed to all my solumbra stuff that when I go without it (say it's raining and cloudy) it feels very strange - nekked.
