Hi all, Just got my ten gallon tank today. Spent $150! God dang thats allot! Anyway, I've got little good news and lots of bad news. I went out, with a list of everything I needed. Heres what I got: - Penguin 125 bio wheel filter. That baby rocks! - $28 - Top Fin 50 watt heater. Nothing special, but it was cheap and works great! $10 - 55 oz bag of Pure Latarite for the bottom substrate $17 - About 3mm - 5mm gravel White mixed. Looks real nice! 25 pounds. Used like 12 pounds. $10 - Small bit of Jave moss. $1

Bummer Drew! Sorry that happened to you. I would insist they give you a new supply of laterite as well. That stuff has to be a real mess to try and save, if its saveable at all. ...So we empty the water. Cleaned the tank. Added the latarite. 10 oz small _layer_ at the bottom of the tank. Then 1 - 2 of gravel. Of course we rinced them both. Added our cleaned rocks. Drift wood which we have to figure out how to get to stay at the bottom. Moved it from the kitchen to the top of the computer desk... Or I should say forget this , because the first word you utter about having moved the tank with all of this in it will immediately render any hope of a warranty replacement null and void . And I'd highly recommend forgetting this step on your second attempt, too...

Just got my ten gallon tank today... we filled it up. Checked for leaks. SAW  NONE. So we empty the water...Added the latarite...Then 1 - 2 of gravel... Added our cleaned rocks [and] Drift wood... Moved it from the kitchen to the top of the computer desk. Came back an hour later. Stuck my hand up on the wood next the tank to get a better hold to see him up close. Splash splash. Took a closer look. YUP you geussed it! Drops of water comming out of the where the two panes of glass connected. So I'm pissed off. I wouldn't be too pissed, because it's very possible you caused the problem yourself by adding a bunch of heavy gravel, rocks, and wood to the tank and then moving it.  Well, now you know how cheaply 10 gallons tanks are usually made - sometimes the bottoms even blow right out of them!  Next time you should set it up in the place it will permanently reside and hopefully you won't have the same problem.  Or maybe tomorrow you can get a more-sturdy 15 gallon or something.  For $150 I think you probably could have set up a 20 gallon even.
