pantheon rome The Pantheon in Rome
I would love to discuss the symbolism of The Pantheon, if someone has the knowledge and the time.         I find the sphere to be extraordinary.  I have been in wonderful buildings in my life, that have made me feel like I was part of this earth, but the Pantheon made me feel part of this universe.  The opening at the top seems like it is letting light in, but I wonder if it was used at night to see the heavens and view the stars.  It resembles the pupil of an eye.         When I walked to the center of the room, I felt movement in every direction away from me.  I felt like I was at the center, but of course I was on the circumference.  It has left several philosophic questions open.  Did Hadrian and the Romans understand the atom, and it's realationship to the solar system and perhaps the universe well enough to make a building symbolic of these relationships?         Trying to figure the building out and why it had such a profound effect on me
