Hi RVers, headed out in a week with the grandkids to see our nations capital and need to get some kind of cell phone,.... just in case.  Must be a million deals out there.  I would like some kind of prepaid cell phone with nat'l usage. What do you recommend? Many thanks Unkbeel

I don't know about the US, but I have a prepaid Fido cell phone for emergencies only.  It is very limited as far as distance from _base_ area.

One drawback on the prepaid cell phones, per a friend of mine, is that if you cannot connect to the company tower then the other phone companies will not honor your phone. They don't get their share of the phone fees so they don't connect. My friend had his with ATT and could not get a call out of Oregon.  He returned it when he got home.
