mileage rate for 2007 Standard Mileage Expense in Profit & Loss report

Thanks for answers and remarks. This is the situation. I ordered a TRIAL version of QB 2004 Basic. Using it, I created a company file and entered data into it. Later, I actually bought QB 2004 Pro, and used it with the file created by the trial version QB. I have been looking for ways to make the mileage expense appear in the P&L report, but I haven't been successful.

Well now that you were informed that the way to do so is via a journal entry your luck will take a turn for the better. - Ukryj cytowany tekst -- Pokaż cytowany tekst -

MONEY AND HASSLE TOO! I reiterate to the OP; my pro99 version does produce P&L reports categorizing Mileage Expenses just fine WITHOUT any ancillary journal entries! I suspect OP either has an incorrect setup, notion of use or incomplete chart of accounts for his purposes. Alan once again once again gives a ridiculous 'fix'; I further suspect he has no more notion of the real problem than I do; however I will admit to that since I don't use 2004... It's either OP's setup fault or the program is now busted or poorly designed. An ancillary recurring Journal entry is NOT the solution for getting Mileage expenses in P&L reports! They should be there by default *as* an expense, assuming the category exists in the chart of accounts.... Tim K Allan Martin <

I have been using the QB program for years and I don't know of any version that automatically books the mileage used without entering a bill or a journal entry first. The new version allows you to track your mileage because IRS requires that you keep a log with certain info in it for all business mileage. That's all this function does in QB. But you stll have to reimburse yourself for those expenses if you want them booked into your general ledger. If you don't want to actually pay yourself back for those business expenses then you have to create a journal entry and charge your auto expense account (or mileage whatever you call it) and credit your equity draw account.
