People say it is all about culture, but I don't really think so. My personal feeling is that the problem is religion. The vast Christian influx from India between 1947 and 1960 seems to have been without serious problems. The large (over 500,000) Hindu influx of the past twenty years hasn't had many problems either. The Jewish population is almost completely integrated. I think the problem is to do with Islam and how the religion was treated when Muslim immigration started. The other major religions already had a _base_ here and the incomers had a community which was successful and integrated that they could join. Islam didn't...

John...sex is lawful activity over the age of 16 (not that she is even doing that with them...yet). If she says that her sex life is none of my business, then she is quite correct. Unless they want to increase the age of sexual consent to 18, then I could actually do something about it. Yes sex is lawful but she is a minor and therefore does not have the right to do as she pleases, that is to say you could forbid her to even leave the house. Wrong. In the UK you can leave home at 16. You can marry at 16. With parental permission in England and without it in Scotland. With *parental permission*. Maria lives in England. Her daughter is a minor so Maria is in charge. Easier said than done I agree in the case of a feisty 17 year old, but that is the case
